You never know when you are writing your childhood Valentines, if it is going to be a boy you have a secret crush on later in life... or possibly your future man! I can still remember writing a Valentine to Kevin Early in the 2nd grade. The Valentine I chose for Kevin had Tulips on the front, and it said "My Tulips are for you". Well... I didn't understand the play on words... until kids in the class were laughing. A Valentine Vision I won't forget! Nor will I forget the time I was running to the bus (circa 2nd-3rd grade) and I dropped all of my valentines on the sidewalk. The bus pulled up, my sister yelled "just come, or the bus will leave you", and I left them all behind. Not a good Valentines day....
Allyson jumps right in when it is time to send Valentines. This year she chose Littlest Pet Shop for the girls, and Spongebob for the boys, and a special Snoopy Valentine for Teacher.
As the room Mom, I organized a "Sweet Treat" party for the kids. We had Ice Cream Sundaes after lunch. We had every topping known to man on that table.

I am SO glad to hear that there's still one school/teacher that allows for a traditional Valentine's Day treat at the party! Some of my friends with elementary school-aged kids bemoan the veggie trays and cheese cube platters that they bring in for the kids to just sit and look at. I personally don't think one cupcake or a little ice cream on a holiday will kill anyone or cause a downward spiral of childhood obesity. Okay, sorry to ramble. I enjoy reading your blog! :)
