As many of you know... Steve and I have been struggling with our new Golden Retriever. We have had her for 8 months, and she has been the humor of many of my posts. Unfortunately we are going to let her go to a better suited home for her needs. Autumn is a Field Golden Retriever, a special line of goldens that is bred to hunt.
When we talked about getting a Golden Retriever... Steve chose the breeder from Wisconsin. He enjoys hunting and thought we could get the "all-in-one" dog. Unfortunately, Autumn has proven to not be the case. Autumn is considered a "working dog", she is dominant to me and the kids, she can be aggressive at times, and she has been snapping and biting at the kids and the neighbor kids. After obedience school and speaking to experts... we believe that she is the alpha dog from her litter.. and since we don't have a "job" for her to do... she is bored here... she constantly paces in the house and is just not suited for us.
Someone is Steve's office, that has other Goldens (and no children) is going to take her on Friday. My heart is aching right now.. but I know this is the best decision we can make; and that she will be happier. She will be in more of a "dog pack" situation. I will miss this girl.... and will try to remember the good times we had with her. XOXO
